Rowlett began to be settled in the 1840s. The first post office, run by postmaster Austin Morris gave this town it's first name of Morris, TX. . As more settlers moved in and the railroad was built through the town, the name was changed to Rowlett after a major tributary of the East Fork of the Trinity-Rowlett Creek. Once Lake Ray Hubbard was built in 1971, Rowlett aquired over 30 miles of shoreline, making it one of the most beautiful cities in the metroplex.
Dart rail runs through the town, making it quick and easy to get anywhere in the metroplex. Not to mention they also have the I-30 and President George Bush corridors running through the town.
Rowlett is ranked in the Top 25 "Best Places To Live" by Money Magazine and was designated #1 Small City in America to Live by Movoto. The city has won many top awards in the last decade
