Welcome! This quiet, little town is located between I-30 to the north and just past highway 80 on the south. (I-190 is also projected to go through the town in the next few years from I-30 to I-20). The town is nestled on the west side of Lake Ray Hubbard. Scenic is the best word to describe Sunnyvale. The city council is committed to preserving the unique quality of life and positive environment found here. It has beautiful, rolling hills and is dotted with small ponds. It is the perfect place to acquire your own personal piece of Americana.
The vast majority of the homes in this city have been built within the last couple of decades. But, don't let that fool you. The town has deep roots in the past along with the other surrounding cities of the area.
Four tiny villages were the start for this town. In 1845, settlers came to the area and set up the village of Long Creek. Near Long Creek were 3 other small villages, New Hope, Hattersville, and Tripp. New Hope became the center of commerce for the area by 1885. A village store was built in New Hope during that year at the corner of Beltline and Town East. Then a school was opened by the Village of Tripp at the Tripp and Collins intersection near the East Fork of the Trinity. In 1953, these 4 villages combine and created the city of Sunnyvale.
